North Jersey Running Enthusiasts, welcome to the 2017 Special Easter Egg Hunt Edition of What’s on track for North Jersey. With Passover, Easter and the schools out for Spring recess we get a mid-month break. We are in the last calm before the storm. Come April 22nd the running scene will be in full stride through the fourth of July! As this is a time to celebrate we thought we’d have some fun. We invited the events that are scheduled from now through the end of May to join our Inaugural Easter Egg Hunt by providing an enticement in the form of a COUPON CODE or RAFFLE PRIZE. As you read through the newsletter pay particular attention to the “EGGs” scattered throughout. If you happen to stumble on a raffle prize please reply to this newletter with your name, mailing address and phone number so we can have the prize available at the supportive venue should your name be drawn. The running schedule absolutely heats up after Easter. Be sure to attended one of the events below. It will surely keep you on track!

4/22 – RevItUp 5K and 10K Runs! EGG*REVITUP15OFF*EGG UNTIL 4.20.17. Main Street Events is thrilled to present The 19th Annual USATF-NJ sanctioned Grand Prix Event, Rev It Up Automotive 5K/10K Festival & Fitness Expo set for Saturday, April 22nd to benefit Sparta P.A.L. also presented by iHeart Media. Gun time is 9:30 a.m. and morning registration opens at 8 a.m. The pre-race Pasta Party & Packet pickup sponsored by Villa Capri II will run Friday, April 21st from 5-8 p.m. in the Sparta P.A.L. located at 38 Station Rd., in Sparta.

Upcoming highlights include: Start to finish drone video, GoPro video reviews, free pictures for all finishers, family fun fitness expo, music at the P.A.L. by Mason Jar Rebellion and on the course, free food, pre-race pasta dinner and packet pick up, stocked goodie bag in support by Thorlabs, free t-shirt and vendor take home items. Sparta Rev It Up 5K/10K Festival & Fitness Expo, from 8am -12pm, offers something for all ages. Come enjoy incredible freebies, such as: massage, food, product sampling, a bounce house, door prizes, big giveaways, etc. Over 120 CUSTOM medals and youth age group winner watches by Cailey Jewelers will be awarded. Participants have a chance to win special awards given to the top three male and female in both 5k/10k’s.

4/23 – Strides for H.O.P.E 5K Run & 2K Walk. Did you know that epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological problem? About 1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some point in their lives. 450,000 children in the United States are affected by epilepsy. One-third of people with epilepsy live with uncontrollable seizures because no available treatments work for them. Support the research, support the cause, support those effected by epilepsy.

4/30 – Chocolate 5KEGG*COCOA30*EGG FIRST 30 TO REGISTER. The 3rd Annual Chocolate 5K Run/Walk is a unique race that combines the love of 2 American Favorites – Running and Chocolate!!! Our scenic course takes you through the picturesque roads of New Windsor and Cornwall, NY with the addition of a small cross country trail segment (Very Unique for a 5K Race!).

5/20 – Tiger Chase 5K/10KEGG*TIGER10*EGG UNTIL 5.3.17 and EGG*Raffle for One (1) Comp Entry*EGG. Lafayette Township School’s PTO is hosting it’s 3rd Annual 5K, 10K and Paw Print Sprint kids fun run on May 20th beginning at 8:30am. Something for everyone: a kids fun run for grades 3 and under, a 5K for runners and walkers and a challenging 10K for the serious runners.  Located in Sussex County with easy access off the main road. The courses pass peaceful farmland and a Heron Preserve.  The closed courses are monitored by NJ State Police. CASH awards for overall top finishers in the 5k and 10K. Raffle prizes after the 5k and 10K finishes. UPDATE! For those that missed out on St Patty’s day, the Pot of Gold 5K supporting the Kinnelon Education Foundation has been moved to June 4th. Unfortunately snow cannot be shoveled from a track and their 5K course starts and finishes on it. Fortunately, you’ll get your pot of gold in June. So ignore the date below and register for this event. You have a second chance to do so! Now lets see what the rest of April has in store for everyone.
