Volume: 5 Issue: 8 – November 9, 2016 – 2016 Raft of Turkey Trots Edition
North Jersey Running Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the 2016 Raft of Turkey Runs Edition of What’s on track for North Jersey .
The most attended run/walk day of the year is almost upon us, Thanksgiving! Turkey trots come in all shapes and sizes. Some are productions while others are a gathering of the local yocals! Whatever the focus, almost all Turkey trots are here to bring family and friends together at the start of the holiday seasons!
That said, WoTfNJ is here again to help with your gobble wobble… so let’s get to it shall we!
A new entre to the Thanksgiving Day circuit is the 2nd Annual d&i Fitness Turkey Trot.
11/24 d&i Fitness 2nd Annual 5K Turkey Trot Burn off the Thanksgiving meal before you even have it! Come join d&i Fitness at its 2nf Annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Run the 5k or walk 2 miles, either way, join us in this fun family event! We will be starting/finishing in front of d&i Fitness on South Orange Ave in South Orange.
11/24 Butler Turkey Trot Before the big feast, the game, and visiting in–laws come run, walk, jog, or skip the 6th Annual THANKSGIVING MORNING 5K and FUN RUN/FITNESS WALK while doing something good for you and your community! All proceeds to benefit the Butler Booster Club!
Come Thanksgiving morning our North Jersey Spartans will engage and run their 10th Annual Krogh’s Turkey Trot. It’s the Tradition before the Tradition! It’s also the 5th largest turkey trot in NJ so if you are thinking bigger is better you just might be right. Garden State Runs has voted the Krogh’s Turkey Trot the #1 Thanksgiving Day Run in NJ! Registration is open so get your morning run in before the feast ensues!
If Sparta is a tad bit outside of your driving radius there is the Bergen County-based Racefaster Thanksgiving Day Runs to satisfy any appetite. This years The Glen Rock Thanksgiving Day Run is in Glen Rock (moved from Ridgewood) at Veterans park sharing the Tribute Run course. Need a local place to celebrate Thanksgiving Morning while enjoying a little of exercise! Racefaster has you covered! If, by chance, you wont be around Thanksgiving Day and want some of that North Jersey Thanksgiving Spirit be sure to checkout the St Peters Turkey Trok, Saturday, November 19th!
11/19 5th Annual St Peter Academy 5K Turkey Trot takes place in River Edge, NJ starting at 9am. It is a rolling 5K run/walk that begins in front of the school and finishes in the back parking lot. It is a certified USATF 500 points 5K event and it is a great race for those who are traveling, preparing for another event or just don’t have the time on Thanksgiving morning to race. It is great to see how the local community really helps support our event and gather before and after in our gymnasium and converse with our sponsors which will have table set up. Please come help support this race. All the proceeds will go directly back to the school.
Race Directors! Event Promoters! Runners! You know Tristate Timing is continually looking to place its Events brochure holders wherever they can throughout North Jersey! Currently brochure holders are available at the Sneakerfactory in Florham Park and at the Paramus Road Runner Sports. For those that have not heard the news there is an up and coming mobile app in the Apple Appstore and Google Play. The Run America app is your one stop for everything “running”. Here you can refine, register and record (coming soon!) your events . Any event that requires you to “move your feet” will be in Run America at some point soon (that is unless the event chooses not to???). Every walk, run, across all known terrains is destined for Run America. Run America is presently working to integrate all multisport, adventure, color and novelty runs too! The idea behind RunAmerica is simple. Provide an app that can filter through any type of event provided a strong profile of preferences. The current version of Run America brings together all the RunSignUp and Active events in one interface. The rest will soon follow with it enhancements to the event filtering that will show you what you want to see exactly when… you need to see it!
If Linkedin is your thing have we got a Group for you! Closing in on one thousand (1000) members the Race Director & Event Promoters Group is the place to discuss anything you need to know about “managing” a run, walk, novelty or obstacle event! Be sure to request admittance and keep on top of what’s going on in the fast paced world of race and event promotions!
