Volume: 5 Issue: 1 – March 5, 2016 – 2016 Kickoff
North Jersey Running Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the 2016 Kickoff Edition of What’s on track for North Jersey .
Winter has had its ups and downs. Some days were incredible to run outside while others were simply bone-chilling. As we move through March it looks as if the tide might turn just in time for the start of the Spring running season. This year Easter falls on the last Sunday in March so the season will start, pause ever so briefly and start again.
Kicking off the season is the 5th Annual Michael Cassidy Shamrock N’ Run 5K! This is a moderately challenge course that has a nice descent in the final mile. Lots of goodies! Food! …and its an all around good time… not to mention this event supports the National Brain Tumor Society, a great cause!
The following weekend everyone will get a chance to run the First Annual YB Fitness Community Run for Fun 5K at the South Mountain Reservation on Sunday, March 20th! The Sneaker Factory and YB Fitness are pulling out all the stops for this one. Please call the race hotline with any questions? 973-376-6094
After Easter the schedule starts out slowly, then kicks into ultra high gear! Be sure to pencil in your runs as there are plenty to pick from midway through April. Here is a short calendar of events to wet your appetite. If you are looking for a more complete picture of what’s on track in North Jersey simply click here.

The goal of Sparta PAL is to provide 4th-8th grade Sparta boys and girls a positive environment to learn and apply the principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication and sportsmanship. Be sure to come out and run this long time staple (formerly the Main Street Events 5K/10K) as it’s all about the kids!

The Chocolate 5K starts with a scenic course which takes you through the picturesque roads of New Windsor and Cornwall, NY with the addition of a small cross country trail segment (very unique for a 5K race!). Expect this chocolate themed event to spoil you positioning your chocolate favorites at varying points throughout the experience. You will find chocolates in your commemorative race bag, on the course, at the finish line, and the post race breakfast celebration. This unique breakfast is offered to all registered 5K Run/Walk participants (complimentary) and features eggs, sausage, decadent chocolate & chocolate chip pancakes —- and of course —- chocolate fountain stations with various dipping foods. Got a sweet tooth! This race has your name written all over it!

04/24 North Haledon PTO – Rock n’ Run for Education – A Rockin 5K supporting the North Haledon Parent Teacher Organization. Free concert featuring Soul Runner and others from START to FINISH! Not oneto miss!
The Wot4NJ pick for March is the NH PTO – Rock n’ Run for Education. The 5K course is a tad challenging on the way out but is incredibly fast on the way back! The event boasts a number of live bands along the course with a post race concert by the local talent. This 5K really rocks!
